Ye' mo' mpae...Let us pray.
As kids my siblings and I joked about it (we still laugh sometimes) because this is the phrase my grandmother was known for. And at this time of mourning her loss I feel it is the most appropriate thing to do.
We learned of her passing the morning of the 13th and I came home that evening from the program to be with my family.
It's a time to rejoice because her work here is finished. She accomplished what she was sent to do and she can now rest in total peace.
I'll leave you with a story that I like to tell about her:
My grandmother didn't speak any English but every time she spoke I felt myself clinging desperately to her words to understand all the history that came forth whenever she told us about our names or the sincerity when she spoke a blessing over us. My grandma's eyes started to fail her many years ago but still her favorite thing to do as "an old lady" was to sit by her radio listening to Christian talk/hymns and read her Bible. From what I was told, she knew the thing so well inside and out that it didn't matter that she could hardly read the pages. She hid the word so deeply in her heart that even when she couldn't see, she could still see.
Thank you Maa Aforo for what you sacrificed so that I could be where I am today.
Psalm 119: 9-11,15-16
9 How can a young man keep his way pure?
By living according to your word.
By living according to your word.
10 I seek you with all my heart;
do not let me stray from your commands.
do not let me stray from your commands.
11 I have hidden your word in my heart
that I might not sin against you.
that I might not sin against you.
15 I meditate on your precepts
and consider your ways.
and consider your ways.
16 I delight in your decrees;
I will not neglect your word.
I will not neglect your word.
So I briefly ask you...how have you been spending your time?
The best is yet to come,
~Adwoa...And (s)he whispers don't cry for me,
I'll see you all someday.
(S)he looks up and says, "I can see God's face."
"This is my temporary Home
It's not where I belong.
Windows and rooms that I'm passin' through.
This was just a stop,on the way to where I'm going.
I'm not afraid because I know...
I'll see you all someday.
(S)he looks up and says, "I can see God's face."
"This is my temporary Home
It's not where I belong.
Windows and rooms that I'm passin' through.
This was just a stop,on the way to where I'm going.
I'm not afraid because I know...
this was my temporary home"
