Radio + Me = Love

It's almost as if the radio listened to my heart-song and put together a personalized mix tape for me last week. It was a loooong week and I questioned a lot of things. I heard both of these songs and felt as if I was having a conversation with myself.

Gonna quit my job and move to New York
'Cause somebody told me that's where
Dreamers should go
Gonna quit my job and move to New York
And tattoo my body with every Broadway show.
-Vegas by Sara Bareilles

Whatever you do
It all matters
So do what you do
Don't ever forget
To do everything you do to the glory of the One who made you
-Do Everything by Steven Curtis Chapman

I wish I could adequately explain how relevant these lyrics are but I can't figure out how to do it without sounding like I just copied the song. I have been planning my move to NYC for the last 2 years. One of my dreams is to start a foundation that would allow youth in areas outside of NYC to be exposed to Broadway. I grew up in the South, and I don't think I would have understood the magic of Broadway if my sister hadn't made it possible for me to see a show in NYC. Local performances are great, but everyone should have a chance to see the big lights.

I set up my work space every day with two essential elements: a laptop and ear buds. I have a cubical so my earphones indicate "door closed" (or at least they did at one point). More importantly, if you had asked me anything about Myanmar a year ago I would have looked at you quite blank faced. However, today, I am providing services for a community of approximately 20 families who have relocated to Chapel Hill from Thailand, Burma, and you guessed it...Myanmar.

Or maybe you're working at the office
Singing along with the radio
Maybe you're dining at a 5-star
Or feeding orphans in Myanmar
-Do Everything by Steven Curtis Chapman

God bless the radio!

The best is yet to come,
~Adwoa
