Purpose

If I haven't already I'm sure there are lots of things that I can write about "purpose".

My thought today is fairly straight forward. Have you ever seen someone who has found something they are so gifted in that they don't know how to stop doing it?

The easiest examples to spot are artists. This morning at church a guest worship leader joined the normal worship team. You could see the man get so caught up that he had to make an effort to not jump to the front of the group and take his "position" as leader. He didn't want the "visitors pass" option of sitting in the back seat and enjoying the ride. (FYI- He was in order and not disruptive. We all enjoyed having him. I was probably the only person paying such close attention to his mannerisms). You couldn't stop him from singing to his fullest potential.

It was pretty awesome to watch. I get excited when I see people so sure in the thing that they are doing that they can't help but let others know about it.

Another very clear example: someone who can't talk stop talking about their spouse or their child.

It seems every conversation includes their loved one's name and some story about something they did or plan to do.

You can have multiple purposes. It's not a one and done thing.

When it/they are on your mind and filling your heart it's practically impossible to stop yourself from spilling over with the action of talking, singing, dancing, painting, leading, organizing, cooking, educating, healing, playing, loving. In turn, when you do those things that come naturally, that feel good, and that make others feel good, you are LOVING. Loving them and a bit less obviously, you are loving yourself.

When you bottle it up and resist the urge to "live out loud" or experience your purpose, you are sabotaging yourself. This is one of the ways that we end up with "frustration of purpose". No individual is without talents or gifts. No one is worthless or doomed to be a pawn in life. I understand that sometimes things happen that are outside of our control and sometimes other people do a really good job (I mean they make it their mission) to put others down.

This quote isn't going to solve all the world's problems but I'll leave you with something my sister once said to me. "Adwoa, there are so many people in the world who want to bring you down, don't help them out by doing it to yourself."

Today, don't take the visitors pass. Grab the lead mic and LIVE!

The best is yet to come,
~Adwoa
