Wow! I knew it had been a while since I blogged but not a whole month. You all should be throwing rotten tomatoes at me by now.
So I thought about this post a few days ago when I was at a concert. It was one of those nights where you start getting epiphanies about things. It was a children's benefit for cancer research and there were all sorts of positive yet sad vibes around. I could go on, but that's not the point of this particular story. The point is that on this night I was soaking in how narrative country music is (yea I used a noun like an adjective and ended with a preposition, sue me). There's not just a small chance that when you go to a country concert you'll hear a song that sounds like your life, there is a 100% chance because the musicians and songwriters want you to feel that way. So I was all deep and reflective and pensive and full of good vibes listening to good music.
Months ago a friend of mine kept trying to convince me that this song is romantic and sexy but I kept thinking "push you up against the wall" sounds pretty violent to me. Lol. I just wasn't feeling it. So this night while I was listening to Gloriana introduce the song and say they've gotten emails about this song giving guys courage to turn back around, the wheels finally clicked in my head and I said... this has actually happened to me before!!!
My version of the story didn't end quite like Gloriana's but I did have a guy drop me off around midnight, walk me to my front porch, exchange an awkward goodbye, get back into his car, drive away, then call my phone, turn back around, drive to my house, and... well you'll have to ask me to find out how my story ends ;)
