World Habitat Day!

For the second year, Habitat for Humanity is collecting photos to send to leaders in Washington, D.C., to persuade them that adequate housing for all should be a priority. Jimmy Carter is a huge Habitat for Humanity advocate. In spite of his health and the poor weather Mr. Carter was out there with this hard hat and a hammer (Alan Jackson reference). The beauty of World Habitat Day is that it truly is a global initiative. The United Nations drives this week long event and honors the intentions of several nations to combat poverty and health issues. The United Nations chose the theme Better City, Better Life to highlight their collective vision of a sustainable urban world that harnesses the potential and possibilities, mitigates inequalities and disparities, and provides a home for people of all cultures and ages, both rich and poor. http://www.unhabitat.org/categories.asp?catid=643
