Things I learned in New York City

Things I learned in New York City
  1. I still love hanging out with my sister!!!!
  2. I still get anxious around crowds
  3. Brooklyn is a long way from West Manhattan
  4. Queens aka JFK airport is a long way from EVERYTHING in Manhattan
  5. It doesn't matter what you do to be on time, you can't control half of the things you'll face
  6. It doesn't appear this way, but everyone is dependent on everyone else in the City, in good ways and bad ways
  7. They do construction on the subway rails during the night and on weekends (which translates into: any time they feel like it)
  8. In reference to #7, if you leave home with just plan A you will be frustrated
  9. In reference to #7, if you leave home with just plan A and B you will be frustrated
  10. In reference to #7-9, just expect the unexpected
  11. The statues in the Museum of Natural History do not come to life...I don't think
  12. Oh how much I love the arts :) and want others to be exposed to them as well
  13. Grav lox/gravlax with cream cheese, capers, and tomato on a bagel is a party in your mouth
  14. Northerners secretly like to talk. Maybe not on the street or on public transportation, but at the grocery store, in the shopping center, etc I couldn't get people to stop spilling their guts.
  15. Hillsong Church NYC is amazing!
  16. It's important to know cross streets and intersections or else you'll attempt to walk 15 miles by mistake like me (did you know that Broadway runs the length of the entire island of Manhattan? This guy walked it http://www.nomadicnotes.com/travel-blog/walking-the-length-of-broadway-new-york/)
  17.

The best is yet to come,
~Adwoa
