Helloooo friends!
The past three weeks have gone by quickly and have been incredibly full. Some moments have been a-mazing and others have nearly worn me to the ground. I'll skip the low points and lead with the headlines.
Two of my great friends graduated this week with Masters degrees, JIPster Holly came to visit for a week!!!!, my kickball team is #2 in the league as we enter the tournament, I have Carrie Underwood tickets, and my annual vacation (or homage as one friend called it) to Nashville is in two weeks!
Yesterday I was feeling too worn out to really be happy so I went to the library after work to rent a movie that would make me laugh. For 10 minutes I thought about what I would really enjoy watching (either new or unseen) and I couldn't think of anything. Then I thought "when is a time I laughed so hard that I cried?" Don't judge me for this...
In 2009 when I saw "The Ugly Truth" in the movie theater, I literally laughed until I cried at the vibrating underwear scene. No one else thought it was nearly as funny as me, but laughter is too precious a gift to return to sender. So for the first time that day a true smile came across my face and I knew that was the movie I needed to watch.
The Durham Public Library system does not own a copy of this movie (it doesn't even show up in the search field, not a good sign). I had to find that laughter...my well-being depended on it. So I called up the nearest Best Buy and bought the darn thing. It was the only copy they had in the whole store. Again, not a good testament to the overall quality of the movie but who cares! Life lesson, if there are things in this world that give you joy and make it possible for you to keep forging ahead to whatever the day holds, DO IT!
