Fix You

Gadzooks Batman! Carrie's voice sounds as clear as crystal. This clip is from her Unplugged session in NYC that I was hoping to attend around my birthday.

Tune in tonight at 9pm EST to watch her Behind the Music special and then Wednesday at 7pm EST to see the full Unplugged performance, both on VH1.

This is are some thoughts I shared within Carrie's Fan Club that I'll just copy and paste here:

I don't know how Carrie feels about recording the track, but her cover of Coldplay's "Fix You" in incredible!!!! The song is 7 years old and is definitely fair game for a cover. I know as fellow Carrie fans basically anything she does or attempts to do is amazing. Carrie is vocally talented and takes great care is performing pieces that fit her voice and personality. To put it simply she doesn't single bad or poorly...ever.

Since Coldplay is still an actively touring group I doubt Carrie would but this track on a cd anytime soon, but I would beg her label to compile a best of album in the next 5 years that includes some of her covers. I know Reba has put both Beyonce's "If I Were A Boy" on an album and Kelly Clarkson's "Because of You" on an album but she is at a point in her career where she doesn't have to prove her talent to anyone. I think Carrie still feels young enough in her career that she wants to keep putting out her own music...with the obvious exception of Randy Travis's "I Told You So" (come on people of course I didn't forget that one) that came out as a duet in addition to being an album cut. Sidenote: I think I read in the Carnival Ride album jacket that Vince Gill sings back up vocals with her on that track...cool.

Martina McBride's cover/duet of Train's "Marry Me" was released on her 2011 cd and even though it's not quite an obvious "cover" since most people don't know who Dave Barnes is, Blake Shelton recorded "God Gave Me You". You can still hear Dave Barnes singing his 2010 version of the song on Contemporary Christian stations and then flip over to Blake's 2011 version on a country station.

So this is my plea to Carrie and her label (current or future) to put out a compilation cd with some of her amazing covers and duets on it soon.
Since I'm on a Carrie rant today I might as well post this amazing picture of Carrie holding up a shirt that me, my sister, and dozens of other Fan Club member signed last June while volunteering at the Food Bank in her honor.

I made the picture really big because in the upper right corner you can see my name and on the left corner you can see my sister's name!!!

I can't wait to see her in November!

The best is yet to come,
~Adwoa
